Be Proactive When the Government Values Your Home

New homeowners certainly have an interest in making sure their home increases in value as quickly as possible. With one exception. A higher value increases a homeowner’s tax payment to the government.

Local tax jurisdictions base real estate taxes on the value of the home. The faster your home’s value is increased, the faster your taxes go up. But you do not have to accept the government’s tax valuation. Every government has an “appeals process.” If you feel the assessment is not realistic, enlist your real estate agent to help determine the real value.

If you are not in contact with your agent, I can help you using automated valuation services. We can run a spot check of recent sales in a matter of seconds. The key is following the proper procedure once you receive notification. You cannot win by procrastinating.

My offer to help is part of my “customer for life” program. If you know anyone else who might be interested in my lifetime of services, give me a ring or feel free to give them my number.
